Our guided wetland education walks offer Brunswick County residents, families, and students a first-hand look at our critical ecosystems. These immersive experiences connect the community to the land we protect, revealing the intricate beauty of our local wetlands while explaining the vital role they play in flood mitigation and water filtration.
We invite local leaders and stakeholders to join us in the field. By walking these threatened rural parcels together, we gain a shared understanding of land conservation and the importance of smart growth. These walks move beyond abstract maps to show the tangible reality of what is at stake in Brunswick County's development future.
Education is the foundation of effective conservation. Through these guided tours, CFBB empowers citizens with the knowledge to advocate for responsible planning. We believe that once someone truly sees and understands the value of our natural buffer zones, they become life-long defenders of our community character.
THE FIRST ACRE INITIATIVE
We don't just watch the land. We buy it. Our land acquisition program operates on a direct 80/20 fund structure: 80% of every dollar raised is immediately reinvested into the purchase of threatened wetlands and rural parcels, while 20% is dedicated to the permanent stewardship and maintenance of those protected acres.
Every acre saved prevents future costs. By acting before the development approval process is finalized, we ensure that Brunswick County's infrastructure and ecosystems are not absorbed by the bill of overdevelopment.
